T.M. Spring
I had a near-death experience in 2013 and returned to this life committed to creating art to tell my story. A life that is about love, exploring nature, and the interconnectedness of all things.

In this image, I see an illustration of life, the speed and brightness at which we live. So round and robust and brilliantly bright in the beginning and for many years. Interspersed are the moments that give us pause, the little patches of darkness, shadows that we get through at first. Then something brings us to a full stop. It could be a simple awareness of incongruity with ourselves and the world, or a full-blown death sentence. No matter the size of the situation, it is significant. And I believe it is a gift — whether it is a choice or a forceful stop of that life path and finding ourselves sinking into darkness.
Exploring the varied textures and shapes in nature of the symbolic yin-yang, where duality is both complementary and integrated. This diptych is a reflective and imperfect variation on the symbolic yin-yang circle of black and white dualism. Showcasing structural disruptions and altered light and shadows is an attempt to show the messy reality of trying to achieve perfect balance in life. Allowing for this natural flow is integral -- essential and fundamental to our interdependencies and completeness.

One small forest fire ignited the dry land and spread on high winds from Jamestown to Longmont, Colorado, burning more than 9,000 acres and destroying 20 homes (to date) and singeing numerous recreation areas in the northern foothills. You can see the smoke coming from close to the peak and filling in the canyon below, one of the most popular road biking areas in the community.
I believe in miracles, magic, and the infinite possibilities of the universe. For those moments in life that call for a miracle...This beautiful, ethereal angel-shaped cloud appeared at sunset. It floats in the ray of light above the mountains with a perfect reflection of light and shadow in the water below. This image inspired the poem "One" on FierceHorizons.com/one . (This is a single shot in natural light, not a composite or manipulations.) Angel cloud and water reflection. An image from March 29, 2020 at the beginning of covid-19 lockdowns. Part of the One Light series, this one featured in the 2021 CPAC exhibit "Reimagining Hope"
