    The Mob

Capturing that feeling of Aspen leaves quaking in the wind and the unruly, excitable tenor of fall.

  • Pregnant Pause

    Pregnant Pause

Oh, autumn... the momentary pause in weather between summer and winter where we feel the earth slowing down, rounding out the last gasp of the season in a blaze of gold, fading in the twilight against an ancient, mossy rock.

  • Timed Entry

    Timed Entry

Finding the sweet spot of full bloom Aspens is often a matter of lucky timing. There's a bit of a story here... Do you remember the 2020 season of Covid-19 when U.S. national parks required timed entry because so many more people wanted to be in nature? This is the Bear Lake trail in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is often overlooked as too easy when you can go in the other direction and reach Dream, Emerald Lake, or The Loch for more exciting adventures. But when it comes to seeing the Aspens in all their gold glory, this trail is brilliant. Take it to the Bierstadt Lake & Moraine for equally stunning views all the way to Hallett's Peak.

    Orange You Happy!

Quaking orange Aspen leaves brush against the brightest blue Colorado sky, a contrasting color set that gives us a boost beyond the mellow yellow.

    I See

What do you see in the bark of the Aspen tree? In the filtered light, gentle on the quaking leaves?

  • Gold Growth

    Gold Growth

Hike a little over three miles from the Kenosha Pass trailhead to reach this expansive view of the South Park valley and western and northern mountain borders, the Collegiate Peaks (14'ers) and the Mosquito Range of the Rocky Mountains. I loved illustrating the Aspen's yellow pop of color in this simple black and white expanse.

  • Fairplay's Pando

    Fairplay's Pando

The hike from Kenosha Pass on highway 285 leads to this view. An Aspen grove brightens the vista overlooking Fairplay in South Park, Colorado. The treeless mountain tops are among the famous Colorado 14'ers.

    Ascention Vibes

For those who like to see the world in technicolor. High-color aspen trees in their full autumn brilliance. The view from the Colorado Trail at Kenosha Pass looking toward Fairplay (in South Park) and the Collegiate Peak 14'ers.
